An overview of the Lamborghini Huracan

The Lamborghini Huracan is the spiritual successor to the well-liked and widely popular Gallardo, which sold from 2003 till 2013. Just as with the predecessor before it, the Huracan represents the beloved Italian sports car maker’s entry-level model, and was unveiled in 2014. In a way, one could consider the Lamborghini Huracan as the even more posh (and Bull-ish) edition of the already spectacular Audi R8. Over the years since its initial introduction, Lamborghini has introduced several iterations of the Huracan - including Coupe and Spyder variants, and just as with the Gallardo before it, the Huracan has been one of the best sellers for the brand

In the UAE, the Lamborghini Huracan is available in six different versions, and it competes against some of the best sports cars to have ever roamed the open roads. These include the Porsche 911, McLaren 570S, Audi R8, and even the erstwhile Ferrari 488 GTB. While the Huracan is still a baby Lambo, it’s unabashedly and proudly a stellar product of Sant'Agata

Exterior

Lamborghini Huracan

When they say it’s not possible to mistake a Lamborghini for anything on the road, they are not wrong. Despite being the most affordable model in the line-up, the Lamborghini Huracan stands out without much fuss. The wedge-shaped nose hangs low to the ground in typical Lamborghini fashion, while the chiseled bumper incorporates the primary air intake and the lower apron has been styled to imitate a bull’s horn -- and it looks spectacular. The upswept and angular headlamps feature Y-shaped LED DRLs, and along with the Huracan’s width, sloping hood line and A-pillars, the face is quite aggressive and intimidating

If we take the high-performance Performante avatar, it’s even more intimidating and wilder when compared to its slightly more ‘tamed’ base variant. With the added aero trim at the front and back, the Huracan Performante measures 4.506 meters in length, 1.924 meters in width, and 1.165 meters in height. Meanwhile, the sleek side profile houses 20-inch alloys wrapped with 245-section front & 305-section rear tires, wedge-shaped window frame, sloping roofline, and distinctive air intake vents are the most eye-catching aspects. The boisterous rear of the Performante is dominated by a large, fixed carbon-fiber rear wing, swanky LED tail lamps, an elaborate air-vent situation with mid-body mounted, loud twin exhausts, and a well-tailored rear diffuser

Interior

Lamborghini Huracan Interior

Sticking with the Huracan Performante, the interior is nothing short of a racing machine that has been (sort of) asked to work well on the road. There are acres of suede/Alcantara, carbon-fiber sport seats, contrast stitching, aircraft-style toggle switches, massive shift paddles behind the wheel, and forged composite trim pieces. Safe to say, everything feels expensive (which they are) and well put-together

The sports seats provide proper support when maneuvering and satisfactory comfort. As for features, the Huracan Performante gets carbon-ceramic brakes, adaptive LED headlights, adaptive dampers, sports exhaust system, dynamic steering, ANIMA driving modes, all-digital instrument cluster, fancy push-button engine start, automatic climate control, cruise control, all-around parking sensors with rearview camera, and a premium audio system among a few more

Engine and performance

Lamborghini Huracan Rear

Getting into the details of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, its ferocity comes from its 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 powerplant. It has been massaged to now make 640 horsepower and 600Nm of shove - sent through the drivetrain to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission -- heading to all four corners via a gen-five Haldex all-wheel-drive system. Fire-walling the throttle will instantly result in this bull charging towards the horizon and hitting the ton-mark in just 2.9 seconds, whilst top whack upwards of 325 km/h. As for this bull’s fuel economy… Do you really care

Verdict

Lamborghini Huracan Rear

Sitting comfortable between AED 840,000 to AED 1,400,000, the Lamborghini Huracan comes in several levels of ferocity -- the only thing holding you back being your bank balance. However, you’d be pleased to know that there are financing options commencing from just under AED 13,100
